I had no idea what a comfort cushion was until I needed one after my lumpectomy. I didn’t realise how useful it would be.
.
It acted as a shield, protecting my skin, resting my left arm, holding the drain, relieving the discomfort. During the night, it prevented the skin from pulling on the stitches. That way, I could sleep.
.
Most people can imagine how they help physically but during a breast cancer journey, when emotions are high, so is the need for comfort. My cushions are so huggable that they become a comforter.
.
When I make a comfort cushion, I know how it will help. I put much empathy, love and care into making it as a direct result of having used one. I make more than a cushion, just like customers who buy one as a gift buy more than a cushion. It’s an expression of so many emotions to their loved one.
